Hi everyone.
I love the dash 8 series. Its most popular here in the Caribbean. So far dreamwings has the most realistic looking version. I see the q100-200-400 but why isn't there an 300? If there is one please tell me how i can get it? Really would love to have it only from dreamwings. Thanks a million and happy simming. |

People always ask and ask.. It's not thaaat far away. I mean the model is basically done. Honestly.
The only thing we have problems with are the details.. We just have so much info on the airplane that we just don't feel like releasing it that plain. Sometimes we look at the model and we're sure it's done, then somebody comes up with the idea to add another opening door so we cut it out, model the rest and think we're done.. Then somebody else comes up with a close up shot of some other part and we figure, hey, let's animate it and so on and so on. So, as I said. I'll talk to Morten and we see if we can make a first preview with temporary textures. Just stay tuned guys. It's closer than you think. |

Bart,
First off, my condolences on the loss of virtually all of your nation's senior leadership in the recent aircraft accident...I am certain this has been a traumatic time, and I know that the thoughts and prayers of many of us around the world are with you. Now...here is the subject of my post: I REALLY like what your team has produced in the past...but..the "New Dreamwings" has been up and operating for 3+ years-- with NO releases. I read your post about "Every time we think an airplane is done, we think up more things to add to it..." That's great, except you tend to lose the interest of people when you haven't never released anything. I saw screenshots of the Q300 well over a year ago-- in fact it could have been 18 months ago (I'm the guy who wanted the Maritime Patrol version)...but still nothing. Here is a suggestion: Why don't you release models...and then update them as you get "better ideas"? That way you won't get "stuck" for years on end trying to make the "perfect" airplane. Some of us DREAMWINGS fans are DYING to get our hands on the Dash 8s!!!! Your Fan, Kent |

Hello Kent,
I would like to thank you for your kind words and your concern. I really appreciate it. God bless you. Regarding your post. Let me explain everything, I will try to make it short though. If it was only my decision I would have released a bunch of products - months ago. Since it is not only me, I cannot do that so easily. The other thing is, we are freeware designers and have no scheduled release date, which only complicates a lot of things. I am aware that people anticipate and wait for our products but all I can do now, is ask you to wait. I will also give you an update on the status of a few projects: - The Bombardier Q-Series Project: The most anticipated project is lead by Morten Hovik. He is the lead designer and is responsible for any delays, tweaks and updates regarding the Q-Series. My work is to guide him through the process of modeling and animating until the model reaches alpha status (basic animation/ready for mapping). The mapping is my field of expertise. After the full mapping, the model was scheduled to be handed over to CieloSim. The team was asked to do the master textures and a few official repaints for the Q-Series project. After the modeling and painting, the model would be send out for coding and programming and reach beta status. All of our beta testers would be informed and asked to test the product for problems, possible mistakes and so on. This is where the community could expect the official preview and a possible release date. After extensive testing we'd take the product back, fix errors and solve problems - announce the release candidate status, send the model out for final testing, take it back for packing and release it. Sounds like a long time - and actually is a long time. Why, cause we do not want to make the same mistake that we did on the v1, which still bounces all across the runway (6 years after the release) Now, where did we get stuck?! Somewhere between alpha and pre-alpha (yes, first paragraph) What I can tell you, is that Morten Hovik's personal life started to be more and more important than anything else which might have lead to this point. I have tried to contact him over several portals - without success. I am sitting on an unfinished model, which I cannot finish on my own without his permission. I have asked him to send me the final model, so I could start on the mapping and the final tweaks (including the model upgrade - ground service vehicles, maintenance mode, interior detail) - as I have stated above - no success so far. My job is done so far, I have modeled quite a bunch of vehicles, details, units, gathered pictures and details for the mapping, set up the pdf manual draft and so on. All I am doing is waiting, like the rest of you. Other than that, my personal life starts to grow on me and I see that I have less and less time to work on FS products. Especially on those that are not finished (believe me, there is more than you can imagine) I am not trying to fool anybody. I am paying for the website and trying to keep the forum alive but it seems nobody else here cares. The Q-Series project is so far the only one that is close to an end - and working on other projects without having this released seems insane. Thank you for your time. Let's just hope Morten turns up soon. Regards. |

Quick update:
Managed to get in touch with Morten - The model should be in on May 7th. Not earlier. That gives me some time to prepare a bunch of stuff a work on other projects. Take care! |

Hello Bart... I myself am I big Dash 8(-300) fan and have been dying to have a high quality, but light on the framerates model. I know that Morten has been working on the Q-Series for quite some time now. I've always been told that it would be for FS9, But since Dreamwings was reinstated, it was said that the FS9 platform will be abandoned and that FSX will be continued So my question is, does this mean that Morten's Dash 8 will also be only for FSX? If so, for me in any case this will be a total let down. I will respect Morten's decision if he does choose to make the Dash 8 for FSX, but for us FS9 users, like myself, who has actually waited a long time for this model, This model won't really be useful for us. I was just wondering... Hope to receive a speedy reply best Regards, Gideon |

Hey Gideon,
Thank you for the post but like you have said yourself - we abandoned the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 platform. The upcoming models feature a lot of inventions that the outdated platform cannot deal with. Making the new models compatible would required a lot of editing and I guess we do not have time for that at this moment. It might change - Time will tell. I hope I clarified your doubts and thoughts. Kindest Regards. |

Thanks for the reply Bart
It is kind of a let down, but I'm still excited to see the project coming to life... I hope you do consider an FS9 version in the near future for this much needed model Hope to see some previews very soon |
